Resin Driveways
Resin bound driveways, and what they actually cost
Resin bound surfacing over a correctly specified base, laid to a seamless finish with crisp detailing.
The approach
Seamless, permeable, and only as good as what sits beneath it.
Resin bound gravel gives you the cleanest driveway finish available: smooth, quiet underfoot, permeable, and free of the weeds and ruts that plague loose gravel. It is also the surface most often laid badly, because it can be spread over an unsuitable base and still look convincing for a season.
We treat the base as the job. Existing surfaces are assessed honestly, and if the answer is a full dig out and a new permeable base, that is what we quote. Then we lay UV stable resin with graded aggregate, hand trowelled to a seamless finish with crisp edges and clean transitions.
Typical cost
Full excavation and new permeable base £95 to £140 per square metre, overlay on a genuinely sound base £55 to £75, edgings and drainage priced separately. Guide figures only, because levels, access and drainage decide the final price. Every quotation we issue is fixed and itemised.
Base assessment or rebuild
Honest appraisal of existing tarmac or concrete, or a full excavation and new permeable base where the ground demands it.
Resin and aggregate
UV stable resin systems and graded natural or marble aggregates, sampled at your property so you choose in daylight.
Detailing
Granite or block borders, drainage channels, tree pits and level thresholds at doors and garages.
Aftercare
Written guidance on cleaning, plus repair and top up support from the firm that laid it rather than a subcontractor.
Who this suits
Sweeping drives, courtyards and pathways at larger homes, usually alongside groundworks, drainage and landscaping in one contract.
- UV stable resin
- Permeable finish
- Seamless hand trowelled

Questions we are asked
Resin Driveways: your questions
How much does a resin driveway cost?+
With a full excavation and new permeable base, £95 to £140 per square metre. A typical double drive of 40 square metres lands between £4,000 and £5,600 before edgings and drainage.
Can resin be laid over my existing driveway?+
Only where the existing base is genuinely sound, level and draining, which is a minority of drives. We will not overlay a base we do not believe in, because the guarantee would then mean nothing.
Is resin bound gravel permeable enough for the regulations?+
Resin bound over an open graded base is a permeable system and satisfies the rules. Resin bonded, where loose stone is scattered onto adhesive over a sealed base, is not, and the two are easily confused.
Does resin crack or fade?+
A UV stable resin holds its colour and a correctly built base prevents cracking. Fading and cracking are symptoms of trade resin or a weak base rather than of the surface itself.
Should I choose resin or block paving?+
Resin suits sweeping modern drives and slopes. Blocks suit wide frontages needing visual structure, and repair invisibly if services are ever dug up. We fit both, so our advice depends on your property.
